On Fire for Bloom's

Hot Apps 4 HOTS

Just finished a Super Saturday “Hot Apps 4 HOTS” workshop. Wish I had come across Brad Wilson’s “App Learning Tasks” sooner. What a fantastic resource! Have included his site with seven others I thought might be useful for promoting higher order thinking skills when utilizing an iDevice.

Other Bloom’s App Resources:

  1. Kathy Schrock Bloomin’ iPad
  2. Edutopia’s K-5 iPad Apps According to Bloom’s Taxonomy
  3. Edorigami’s Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy
  4. Appitic
  5. Bloom’s Apps
  6. Kelly Tenkely’s Bloom’s Taxonomy of Apps
  7. Teach with your iPad’s Blooms Taxonomy with Apps
  8. App Learning Tasks

Cautionary Apps: Episode 9

This is a supplement to “Appy Hours 4 You” Blog Talk Radio Show: Episode 9 – “Cautionary Apps”. In this episode we were joined by Susan Reeves (App-tastic ITS and Google Certified Teacher). Our topic was cautionary apps: how to review apps, where to find the best apps, and the pedagogical practices behind selecting appropriate apps for classroom use. We also shared a specific list of cautionary edu apps and how teachers can avoid or better prepare instruction around these selections by previewing and preselecting content.

Cautionary Apps: Preview & Preselect Content

Educator Recommended Apps: Check out TCEA’s Google Doc for iPad and iPod, Kathy Schrock’s iPads in The Classroom, and APPitic for educator recommended apps.

So Many Apps, So Little Time…

Time for an Appy Hour of grand proportions. Came across this site last night via Twitter and had to share it. It is a beautifully crafted site created by ADE educators. Apps are sorted by preschool (e.g. animals, drawing, math, etc…), themes (e.g. math, language arts, social studies, reference, tools, etc…), multiple intelligences, and bloom’s taxonomy. I quickly added it to my Scoop.it “iPad Recommended Educational App Lists” page (seen below) and plan to spend some quality time with their section on bloom’s taxonomy for our HOT Apps 4 HOTS workshop being presented at TCEA 2012. Thanks for the iNSPIRATION!
